Panther Pride PTO to host Family Bingo Night

The Panther Pride PTO will be hosting its first family bingo night fundraising event on Feb. 22.

In past years, the Panther Pride PTO has hosted a school carnival. However, this year the event will feature a bingo event and silent auction.

“We’re geared for kindergarten through fifth grade, so we’re going to take our time calling out the bingo numbers and have plenty of helpers in the room,” said Erin Kiley, Panther Pride PTO president.

Kiley said the funds raised will help teachers purchase classroom supplies and activities the general school budget can't support.

"We'd like to try to bring in fun authors or programs for the kids as well,” said Kiley.

Concession stand type food, such as nachos, hot dogs and popcorn, will be available for purchase.

Baskets of donated items will be auctioned off in a silent auction. The items in the baskets have been brought in by students and are based on themes assigned to their classroom.

The Panther Pride PTO will also be concluding the Box Tops for Education dime collection the evening of the fundraiser.

“We’ll have jars set out for each classroom that families can drop in spare change or dollar bills – whatever they want to contribute,” said Kiley.

Kiley said the PTO's goal for the Box Top dime collection is $1,000. If that goal is reached, teachers will make an ice cream sundae on elementary principal, Scott Driskell’s head and a pizza on elementary principal, Callie Anderson’s head, at a school assembly.

“We’re really excited for this. This is something new for us so we want people to come out and have a good time with us … anybody is welcome to come out and join us. We’re trying to keep it really low-cost, friendly, fun family event,” said Kiley.

The Bingo Family Night will take place Feb. 22. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and games begin at 6 p.m.

Participants can purchase a 10-pack of bingo games for $5 or single bingo cards at 50-cents each. Prizes will include gift certificates and other items donated by local businesses. This event is all ages.
