Reba Lamb

Reba Mae Kirkpatrick, daughter of Albert Rice and Mae (Boles) Kirkpatrick, was born Dec. 21, 1920, in Greeley County in western Kansas, and entered into eternal rest Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at the age of 98 years and six days.

Visitation for Reba (Kirkpatrick) Lamb will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

Reba’s mother died 12 days after she was born, and Reba lived the first six weeks of her life in a sod hut, being cared for by a neighbor, until her grandparents were able to travel to take her to their home. She was raised by her grandparents, Wesley and Bertha Boles, on a farm near Grand River. She called them Pop and Mom. She graduated from Grand River High School in 1938.

Shortly after graduation, Reba married Walter David Lamb, and they lived in Osceola. Reba worked at J.C. Penney, the engineer’s office at Clarke County Courthouse, and retired from Clarke Electric Co-Op.

For many years, she raised a big garden and canned the bounty. Her house plants, especially the African violets, thrived under her care. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing many different card games, especially Pitch and Cribbage, and traveling. Reba visited all 50 states, and also traveled to Mexico, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Her greatest joy of all was being with her family.

Reba leaves the following to cherish her memory, her daughter Avonelle Sorensen of Mason City; grandson Karl (Tammy) Sorensen and their son Trevor of Sheffield; granddaughter Kristina (Joseph) Raiten and their daughter Katheryn of Pensacola, Florida; grandson Jeffrey (Pei-Jiuan) Lamb and their son Will of Green Grove, Pennsylvania; brothers, Loudean (Marilyn) Kirkpatrick, Kent (Connie) Kirkpatrick and Clay Kirkpatrick; sisters, Kenlyn Kelso, Leann Duff and Dellane (Jerry) Vanderflught; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 2001; son Victor in 2017; brothers, Harold, Albert Claire and Shawn Kirkpatrick; and sister Lois Greene Barbour.
