Lorraine Urquhart, 96 of Stuart passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Memorial services were 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Johnson Family Funeral Home, 123 NE Second St., in Stuart. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was in South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be made to Lorraine Urquhart memorial fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Lorraine was born Aug. 28, 1922, to John and Faye (Shephard) Brommer in Reardan, Washington. She grew up in Reardan, and graduated from Reardan High School with the class of 1939. Following graduation, she attended Kinman Business University.

She was united in marriage to Glenn Urquhart on Aug. 16, 1944, in Spokane, Washington. The couple moved to Georgia, before lastly settling on the family farmstead south of Stuart. They were blessed with eight children, Dwayne, Gale, Kathleen, Donna, Janice, Lavonne, Keith and Mary Ann. Lorraine assisted Glenn on the farm and raised the children.

She was a member of First Congregational Church of Stuart and Stuart American Legion Auxiliary. In her earlier years, she loved to dance with Glenn. She loved life on the farm, tending to her garden and flowers, watching the birds and squirrels and milking her cows. She spent many days babysitting her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing word puzzles and playing solitaire.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glenn; daughter Janice; granddaughter Michelle Miller-Woods and brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Pat Brommer.

She leaves behind her children, Dwayne Urquhart of Casey; Gale (Connie) Urquhart of Johnston and his daughter Tiffany (Brad) Dilts; Kathleen (Jim) Schultz of Greenfield and their children, Tony Miller and friend Melissa, John Miller and friend Erin, Alan (Corinna) Schultz and Kimberlee Stanton; Donna Newby of Murray, Utah, and her daughter Jessica (Chuck) Galaviz; Lavonne (Rich) Baldwin of Huxley and their children, Todd Baldwin and Mindy Baldwin; Keith (Kathie) Urquhart of Stuart and their daughters, Alicia and Rachel Urquhart; and Mary (Dennis) Laird of West Des Moines; son-in-law Lee Carter of Dexter and his daughter Nicole (Dusty) Rich; 19 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Ona and Bruce Landers of Richland, Washington; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
