Bonnie Ray, 84, of Creston died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Greater Regional Health in Creston.
Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., in Creston. The Rev. Terry Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Bonnie Grace (Buel) Ray, daughter of Thea Grace (Morgan) Buel and Emory Eugene Buel, was born Feb. 20, 1934, in Van Meter. She graduated from Van Meter High School in 1952.
In 1952, Bonnie married Harold Elmer Ray in Minnesota. They settled in Booneville, where Bonnie was a homemaker. They moved and worked in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then to Nevinville. Together they had children, Sharon, Debra and Rod. They divorced in 1970.
Bonnie moved to Orient, then to Red Oak, working in housekeeping at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. She also did house cleaning for many people over the years. Returning to Orient, Bonnie worked as a cook for years at Orient Community School. In 1997, she moved to Regency Park in Creston.
Bonnie had been a member of Van Meter Presbyterian Church.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Sharon Williamson of Creston and Debra (Dan) Tindle of Bridgewater; son Rod (Sherri) Ray of Orient; grandchildren, Darcy (Shawn) Crawford, Amber (James) Holder, Toby (Carlene Hoffman) Williamson, Colt, Luke and Kiley Johnson, Josh (Stacy) Ray, Brandy Macumber and Angie Ray; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Doug Williamson; grandchildren, Jake Johnson and Jessica Tindle; brother Billy Buel; sisters, Iris (Warren) Hudson and Bernice (Leslie) Bloomer; and great-grandchildren, Cade and Conner Ray.
