Connie Roan, 74, of Afton died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.
Celebration of life memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Afton Community Center. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery, near Thayer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be established. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.
Connie Sue Roan, daughter of Hallie Robert Moore and Elma Lucille (Willey) Moore, was born Jan. 27, 1944, in Mount Ayr. She graduated from Diagonal High School in 1962, then attended beauty school and was certified at a school of cosmetology in Des Moines.
On Sept. 22, 1963, Connie married Donald E. Roan in Afton. They lived all of their lives in Afton. Connie owned her own beauty shop for several years. Connie also worked for her mother at Moore’s Nursing Home in Afton until it closed. She was a beauty operator in the hair salon at Spurgeon’s in Creston, and also did hair and worked in the dietary department at Afton Care Center. Connie later became the dietary supervisor after her mother retired. Connie retired in 2005.
Connie is survived by her daughter Christine (Troy) Reed of Urbandale; son Danial of Thayer; grandchildren, Patrick (Amanda Beede) Harden of Urbandale, Jesse Roan of Creston, Benjamin Roan of Thayer and Emma Roan of Thayer; great-grandchildren, Ella and Eli Harden of Urbandale; brothers, Bob (wife Janet Fry) Moore of Nodaway and Wayne (wife Mary Paardekooper) Moore of Afton; sister in-law Marjorie (Pete) Repplinger of Creston; uncle Gerald (wife Jean Marler) Willey of Mount Ayr; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband Donald in March 2018; parents; mother- and father-in-law, Mary Adalade (Eischen) and Roy Raymond Roan; brother-in-law Richard (Vera Jane Eckels) Roan; sister-in-law Marilyn (Harry) Clark and daughter-in-law Amy (Berry) Roan.
