David Stowers

Truro

David Lee Stowers was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Puxico, Missouri, son of Earl and Lillian (Whaley) Stowers. He married Viola Lorraine Heckathorn on Nov. 6, 1960, in her parents’ home in Des Moines.

Dave attended Iowa Police Academy, as well as a trade school, later becoming a heating and air conditioning engineer. He retired from Polk County as maintenance engineer in 2000, and moved to Truro, after having raised his children in Murray.

He loved spending time with his family, and served many years as Scoutmaster for the local Boy Scout troop, relishing camping, fishing and lots of shenanigans with “his” boys. He also enjoyed golfing (though he wasn’t very good!), traveling in the RV, playing board and card games with his grandkids and watching westerns on television.

David passed away surrounded by family on April 9, 2018, at Winterset Care Center North. He was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, Jim, Willard and Bill; as well as three beautiful grandchildren, Anna, Cameron and Katrina.

His memory will be cherished by his wife Viola; sister Marlene; brothers, Earl and Paul; children, David Eblen of Nineveh, Indiana, Pamela (Randy) Glazebrook of Phoenix, Arizona, Alan (Lesia) Stowers of Greenville, Texas, Donald (Maureen) of Kansas City, Missouri, Jeff (Tina) Stowers of Truro and Sharon (Jeff) Kleinbeck of Murray; and grandchildren, Rob (Amanda) Glazebrook, Sandra Glazebrook, William Glazebrook, Trista Humble, Ryan Humble, Nikki (Trey) McDaniel, David Stowers, Samuel Stowers, Mary Stowers, Derrick Stowers, Wyatt Stowers, Erin Kleinbeck and Alyssa Kleinbeck. David also loved his many great-grandchildren.
