Jeff Ibbotson, 75, of Creston died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Iowa Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Monday, March 26, at First Baptist Church in Creston. Flag presentation will be by Creston Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post 1797. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston at a later date. The Rev. David Tebbenkamp will officiate. Open visitation with family present will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the church. Jeffrey Lee Ibbotson, son of Jessie Caroline (Carson) Ibbotson and Boyd Milton Ibbotson, was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Diagonal. Jeff graduated from Creston High School in 1961. He later attended Colorado State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in electrical engineering. Jeff also served his country as a part of the United States Air Force as a captain.
On Aug. 25, 1965, Jeff married Phyllis Roberta Skinner in Fort Collins, Colorado. They settled in Green River, Utah. Jeff moved to Mount Ayr, where he operated a milk farm for a short time. After moving to Nevinville, he worked building farm buildings in the area before moving to Creston in 1982. While in Creston, he worked at Wellman Dynamics until Phyllis died in 1989. Jeff moved to Shannon City and began his own plumbing, heating and electrical business.
On May 21, 1994, Jeff married Linda Susan Taylor in Tingley. They settled in Tingley for a short time before moving to Creston in October 1995. Jeff continued to operate his plumbing, heating and electrical business until his health declined, and he retired in 2016.
Jeff was a member of First Baptist Church in Creston.
Jeff is survived by his wife Linda of Creston; children, Jean Ibbotson of Dallas, Texas, Chuck (Krystle) Taylor of Creston, Mike Taylor (fiancée Tera Thompson) of Des Moines, Josiah (Laura) Ibbotson of Bremerton, Washington, Lois Taylor of Creston, Julia (Matthew) Amos of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ira (Amanda) Ibbotson of Afton, Benjamin Taylor of Creston, Jaymie Taylor of Creston, Avery Ibbotson of Creston and Brittany Taylor of Winterset; grandchildren, Mathew Taylor, Terrance Taylor, Isaiah Taylor, Madison Taylor and Dakota Taylor, Michael Taylor Jr. and Gabrielle Taylor, Mathew Ibbotson, Jonathon Ibbotson, David Ibbotson and Daniel Ibbotson, Taylor Groves, Bailey (Christian) Yenzer, Jeremy Ebrecht and Sydnie Taylor, Matthew Amos II, Jeffrey “Elijah” Amos, Rebekah Amos and Nathaniel Amos, Onxe Ibbotson, Ethan Taylor and James Hoch; great-grandchildren, Eliza Ebrecht-Haley, Izabella Yenzer, Rayfe Yenzer, Noah Yenzer and Killian Yenzer and sister Janis Denny of Pella.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, son Jonathan Ibbotson and granddaughter Victoria Michelle Taylor.
