Scott Joseph Draman, 27, 304 N. Vine St., was charged with fifth-degree theft 6 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart.
According to a Creston Police report, an officer was dispatched to Wal-Mart for a customer caught shoplifting. Upon arrival, he met with the store’s asset protection officer in his office where he had Draman. The asset protection officer said Draman had paid for a drill bit but tried to leave the store without paying for another drill bit and a torpedo level. Wal-Mart wanted to pursue theft charges. The total amount of the two items Draman tried to conceal was $8.78. When asked why he only paid for one drill bit, Draman responded that he was trying to be cheap and that he had loaned his tools out to someone who had not returned them, so he was trying to rebuild his set. The asset protection officer also said earlier in the week they captured Draman on security camera in the electronics department and Draman had taken an item without paying for it. The asset protection officer said he did not keep the package so he was unsure of the amount of that item’s value. Draman was charged and forbidden to enter the store again.
Draman was cited and released on a promise to appear.
