HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A HAIR STYLIST? Oh, about 30 years now. I've done it in Corning, Des Moines and then Creston probably the last 25 years.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB? The people. You get to meet a lot of people, and visit, and you know what, they become just like family — they really do.
HOW DID YOU BECOME A HAIR STYLIST? I knew I either wanted to be a nurse, or do hair. And I decided I would rather have people walk out of my work smiling, and looking good, than it being so intense.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF YOUR WORK? I paint. A lot of the paintings in my office are mine. I'm just getting into it, but I just love it. And I actually went to the pre-school this week and taught them how to do this technique — it's called acrylic dirty pours.
FAMILY: My daughter, Leah Day, who works here part time and then full time at PCSB. But I've actually got five kids and four grandkids in all.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT CRESTON? Absolutely the people, again. The people are just so kind.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE? I'd have to say "Rocky." I just love all the "Rocky" pictures.
