‘Sail On’ at Corning Opera House

CORNING – Corning Opera House Cultural Center brings “Sail On,” a Nashville Beach Boys Tribute, 7 p.m. Sunday, March 11. The harmonious vocals and feeling of Southern California surfing will be in Corning. The Beach Boys music was influenced by rock, jazz and doo-wop, taking the world by storm while singing about cars, surfing and romance. They had 36 songs reach the Top 40.

Charles Carmody of the Charleston Music Hall said, “If you are looking for an authentic Beach Boys concert experience, Sail On, is as close as you are going to get. Our audience absolutely loved Sail On.”

Sail On band members have much experience playing with Brian Wilson’s Band, The Zombies, Earth Wind and Fire, Cheap Trick and others. Band members are Wyatt Funderburk (bass/vocals), a Nashville songwriter and producer. Mike Williamson (keys/vocals), is a multi-instrumentalist and singer with many years on stage playing all genres from folk to jazz. He is also a veteran in the studio serving as arranger and producer on many recordings. Paul Runyon (keys/vocals) lives in Nashville, where he performs and records with his band “The Explorers Club.” Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, he has played keyboards with Mark Lindsay from Paul Revere and the Raiders. Matt Thompson (guitar/vocals) is originally from Indiana, now living in Nashville, where he contributes to several bands. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied arranging and composing and followed the intricate harmony of the Beach Boys. Jason Brewer (guitar/keys/vocals), is the songwriter for The Explorer Club. His music has been on CBS, Fox, HBO and others. He has worked at length with The Brian Wilson Band on many projects.

Corning is the only Iowa stop on Sail On's spring tour, with other concert locations at Indiana, Connecticut, Delaware, New York and Georgia. For more information, see their website at www.sailonsounds.com or Facebook page.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased online at www.corningoperahouse.com, afternoons at the opera house or at State Bank of Brooks in Corning. Advance ticket prices are good up until 24 hours before the show starts. Adults are $25 advance and $30 day of. Students are $5 and $10. Concessions including pop, candy, water and beer are available. Parking is available for free on the street. The doors will open to the auditorium at 6:30 p.m.
