Sandra Shields, 74, of Atlantic passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at her home.

Sandra Kay (Evans) Shields was born June 7, 1943, at her parents’ home in rural Prescott, the daughter of Leo and Marjorie (Ferguson) Evans. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Sharpsburg. She attended rural school near Lenox, and graduated from Lenox High School with the class of 1961. Following graduation, she was employed at several area jobs.

On Oct. 6, 1963, she was united in marriage to Bobbie Shields at the Presbyterian Church in Sharpsburg. They were blessed with two daughters, Milea and Rikki. In 1963, they made their home in Creston. She was employed by the city of Creston in the water works department, and served as the clerk for more than 20 years. In 1995, they moved to Atlantic and she began working for Cass County Memorial Hospital in admissions. Sandra worked there for 10 years before retiring in 2005.

An avid golfer, Sandra spent much of her free time enjoying their membership at Nisha Hills Golf Course in Atlantic. For the past nine years, she loved wintering in Arizona with Bob. In her younger years, Sandra enjoyed going dancing and was blessed with a wonderful singing voice. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family.

She is preceded in death by her father Leo Evans; her brother-in-law Delbert Weeda and nieces, Lauren Sybert and Jasmine Evans.

Sandra is survived by her husband Bob Shields of Atlantic; her daughters, Milea and husband Ivan Schnathorst of Indianola and Rikki and husband Jason Kuhns of Adel; her grandchildren, Jayme Humble of Indianola, Erin and husband Chad Durfey of Indianola, Sierra and husband Ryan England of Diagonal, Sean and wife Shelby Coen of Columbus, Ohio, Shyanne Kuhns of Grimes and Jordan Schnathorst of Indianola; her great-grandchildren, Skyler Humble, Hayden Humble, Tucker England, Sawyer England, Ethan Durfey and Rex England; her mother Marjorie Evans of Creston; her brothers and sisters, Joyce Weeda of Clearfield, Pat and husband Dave Ferris of Lenox, Jackie and husband Mark Wehrle of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, Mike and wife Jill Evans of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Laurie and husband Lyle Sybert of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Nick and wife Laurie Evans of Creston; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family has suggested memorials be designated to American Lung Association. Per Sandra's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
