5 minutes with Bill Huntington, Mount Ayr Community Schools 7-12 principal

AGE: 53. Jeepers! Didn't think I'd ever make that.

HOMETOWN: Lenox

FAMILY: I've got my wife (Diana), we've been married 23 years this year. I've got Emily, she's a senior at UNI. She's going to be a science teacher. Joey is a sophomore at Iowa State and then Olivia is a fifth-grader.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PRINCIPAL HERE AT MOUNT AYR? This is my first year, so August of '17.

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST ADJUSTMENT FOR YOU COMING HERE? I don't know if there was a big adjustment. It was just great to be back in the area. Kind of growing up in Lenox and being close to Creston and doing most of my teaching, coaching in the Orient-Macksburg area, it was nice to be back close to home. I didn't really feel like I was starting over.

FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING IN THE MOUNT AYR COMMUNITY: I think what Diana and I have noticed is we can't believe how many people have come up to introduce themselves or say hello. The community has been absolutely outstanding welcoming us. They're very good people.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB: My favorite part of the job is getting to work with the staff here. This staff is so think-outside-of-the-box, cutting-edge people. They go to the 20th degree for these kids. The staff is really good to work with.

WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL? Why I got into teaching, I had two favorite teachers as a kid – Jerry Golden and Steve Westphal. Coach Westphal is obviously why I coach.

FAVORITE SPORT TO WATCH: For me, that's NCAA basketball. I love college basketball. That's fun to watch.

FAVORITE TEAM TO FOLLOW: You know I love those Cyclones. And the Hawkeyes. I do root for the Hawkeyes, too, except for when they play each other.

FAVORITE MOVIE: This is just so dude, but "Road House." I love that movie. "Road House" or "Forrest Gump."

DO YOU HAVE A RESOLUTION FOR 2018? I've thought about that. I don't know if I really have a resolution. I think what I want to do is get better at everything I'm currently doing.

FAVORITE MEMORY FROM 2017: Probably getting this job. I was super excited about that. We really felt like it was a great move for me career-wise.

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE MEAL THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE? Based on today, definitely chili.
