Greta M. Rutledge, 78, of Grinnell, formerly of Creston, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Lakeshore Golf and Country Club in Afton. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Memorial contributions may be designated to Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS) and mailed in care of Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112. Greta Marlene Stone, daughter of Harold Swan Stone and Carrie Mae (Cornelison) Stone, was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Osceola. Greta was raised and educated in Afton, and graduated from Afton High School in 1957.
On Nov. 10, 1963, Greta married Richard “Dan” Rutledge in Afton. They made their home in Creston and Greta was employed as a medical assistant at Creston Medical Clinic for several years.
Greta was a member of Lakeshore Golf and Country Club and the Elks Lodge in Creston.
Greta is survived by her son, Zebron Daniel (Cara) Rutledge of Grinnell; stepgranddaughter Allison Marks of Grinnell and niece Carrie Ann Schuler (husband Terry Wetzsteon) of Creston.
Greta was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dan Rutledge in 2010 and siblings, LaDonna Schuler McLandsborough and Marvin Stone.
