Six Creston/O-M Panthers added new honors to their resumes after the Class 3A District 7 all-District teams came out Monday.
Trevor Downing and Kylan Smallwood both received first team honors on offense and defense, respectively. Downing, a senior, was named first team offensive line, a year after committing to play up front for the Iowa State Cyclones. Downing was also a unanimous first team selection last season.
Smallwood garnered first team defensive honors at cornerback after pulling down two interceptions, a fumble recovery with an additional 28 tackles and three solo tackles for loss. His numbers forced offenses to the other side of the field and he still has another year to continue improving. Smallwood finds himself on the postseason awards list for a second time after receiving second team honors as a defensive back last season.
Tucker Flynn also received honors at offensive line, ending up on the all-District second team for his senior season. Flynn and Downing cleared space for running back Mitchel Swank, another all-district appointee.
Swank brings home second team honors as well finishing the season just short of 1,000 yards rushing, with 978. Swank carried the ball into the endzone seven times while adding an additional 62 yards on nine catches over the course of the season. Swank was named as a honorable mention in last season’s all-district awards.
The Panthers had two names earn honorable mention, Eli Loudon and Rylan Luther.
Loudon, a sophomore, received the honor for his role as a utility player as a quarterback, wide receiver and his role in a defensive capacity. Loudon completed more than 63 percent of his passes for 568 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. Loudon also finished second on the team in tackles (42), and recorded a tackle for loss.
Luther was rewarded for his play at linebacker after leading the team in tackles on the year.
The sophomore recorded 51 total tackles, seven of which resulted in a loss.
