Nancy Carol (Davis) Waters, 77, of Greenfield died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.
Memories and lunch were from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, with memories at 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Greenfield. Private family burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Massena. Memorials may be directed to the Nancy Waters memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. Nancy, daughter of Wayne and Daisy (Strompp) Davis, was born July 13, 1940, at their home in rural Adams County. She grew up on the family farm just outside of Bridgewater. She attended Bridgewater High School, graduating in 1958. After high school, Nancy started working in Des Moines, then moved to Atlantic.
On Oct. 31, 1959, Nancy married Gerald (Jerry) William Waters at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Massena. Nancy was a stay-at-home mom until her children went to school. She helped Jerry with the bookwork at the mill and hog buying station. She drove a school bus for Cumberland-Massena for around 15 years. Later in life, she worked for Nodaway Valley School District in varying capacities prior to retiring. In later life, she enjoyed the companionship of Ron Smith.
She was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield.
Nancy is survived by her children, Gina (Larry) Meisenheimer of Fontanelle, Julie Waters of Atlantic, Troy (Cynthia) Waters of Midlothian, Texas, and Amy (Mark) Bradford of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Luke Meisenheimer, Katie (Curtis) Gettler, Jaxon and Sabrina Waters, Zachary, Quentin (Krysia), Hayden and Carter Bradford; brother Denny (Joann) Davis and sons, David and Mark; brother-in-law Kenny (Donna) Waters; sisters-in-law, Jean Coffman, Joanne (Don) Shannon and Delores Waters; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Gerald (Jerry) Waters; parents, Wayne and Daisy (Strompp) Davis; infant brother Richard; sister Diana; in-laws, Robert and Mary (Devine) Waters; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Waters and Vern Coffman.
