Margaret “Maggie” Hoyt, 79, of Creston died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. The Rev. Jodi Rushing will officiate. Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery St., in Creston. Margaret Evelyn (Overholser) Hoyt, daughter of Joseph and Bessie Overholser, was born April 10, 1938, in Creston. She lived most of her life in Creston, except for a few years when she lived in Burlington. Margaret owned and operated a gas station in Creston before she began working at Bunn-O-Matic. She worked in the housekeeping department at Bunn-O-Matic for nearly 25 years, retiring 17 years ago in 2000.
On June 27, 1993, Maggie married Harvey Jackson Hoyt Jr. in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Maggie is survived by her husband Harvey Hoyt Jr. of Creston; son Scott Grimm of Pennsylvania; stepdaughter Christy (Steve) Lee of LaVista, Nebraska; stepsons, Jason Hoyt of Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, and Jerad (Marcie) Hoyt of Marshalltown; six grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
