Fourth of July entries due June 30

Entries for the 10,000 Crestonians Fourth of July parade and Fourth of July talent show are due June 30.

The parade includes adult (16 and older) and youth (15 and under) divisions. Adult divisions include novelty, antique vehicles, saddle horses, horse or pony hitches and saddle clubs. Youth divisions include novelty, wagons and buggies; bicycles; pets and miscellaneous and saddle horses.

Bicycles and helmets will once again be given away to the best-decorated bicycle entries. Past winners are not eligible to win bicycles, but are encouraged to participate in the parade for other prizes to be given away.

Creston Bucks will be awarded to all categories except antique vehicles. Ribbons will be presented to all antique vehicle entries. Judges will score entries using the theme.

The assembly area for parade entries is Creston Livestock Auction. All entries must be there and in place by 9:30 a.m. Judging begins prior to the start of the parade.

This year’s theme is “A hometown Fourth of July.”

The talent show, which takes place in McKinley Park, features divisions for 7 and under, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16 and 17 and older.

Creston Bucks will be presented to the top three placewinners in each age division.

There will be one song or performance per contestant. If there is a group, the age of the oldest participant will dictate what age division the group is placed in.

A piano could not be secured for the contest, but there will be an electronic keyboard available.
