AGE: 61
HOMETOWN: Creston
FAMILY: Husband, Mike; one son, two daughters and my dog
HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED ELMS CLUB? We bought The Elms Club in 1976, so 41 years.
FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB: Just seeing the customers repeatedly. Like Memorial Day, people that come through once a year, it’s fun to see them.
FAVORITE EVENT OF THE YEAR: That would be a toss-up between Thanksgiving weekend and Bike Night. Those are both really fun times. A lot of people around and everybody’s there for a good time.
FAVORITE MENU ITEM: I’m partial to burgers and fries. I would say just a good old hamburger and fries and a Coke would be my favorite meal.
ABOUT HOW MANY BURGERS DO YOU COOK IN A DAY? Oh my golly, some days it can be upwards of 50. Other days it could be more fish or loins. I would say between 40 and 50.
FUNNIEST THING A CUSTOMER HAS SAID TO YOU: There was a little boy, it’s been years ago, who came in with his dad and his dad’s friend. They came in the back door and on our sign on the back, it says “Elms Club - Food - Drink - Pool,” and the little boy walked in and he wanted to know where the pool was.
DREAM VACATION: I love to lay in the sun, so my dream vacation is Chase Lounge and a cold beer in Mexico.
FAVORITE BOOK: I like to read. I don’t know that I have a favorite author or a favorite book, but I do like John Grisham.
WHAT IS ONE THING THAT SHOULD BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL THAT ISN’T ALREADY: The one thing that should be taught, I think, is to teach everybody how to count change. They don’t know how. Everything is calculators now.
IF YOU HAD ONE EXTRA HOUR OF FREE TIME EACH DAY, HOW WOULD YOU USE IT? I like to watch Home and Garden TV and I would probably read a book. I sure wouldn’t be cleaning house.
WHAT’S ON YOUR BUCKET LIST? I suppose just to travel and have no commitments, no schedules. That would be my big thing.
