John Brice Reasoner, 67, of Beaconsfield died Friday, April 28, 2017, at Decatur County Hospital in Leon.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at United Methodist Church in Ellston with the Rev. Bruce Giese and the Rev. Bill Armstrong officiating. Burial is in Oliver Cemetery, southwest of Beaconsfield. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 1, at Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., in Mount Ayr. John, son of Frank Brice and Mary Louise (Peterson) Reasoner, was born Oct. 28, 1949, at Osceola. He attended elementary school in Beaconsfield and later, with school consolidation, attended Mount Ayr High School, where he graduated in 1968. John graduated from Iowa State University May 29, 1970, with an associate degree in agriculture. John graduated from DMACC May 1973 with an applied science diesel technology degree. His first job was at Ryerson’s Implement in Nevada.

On July 21, 1973, John married Diane Mary Lennon Sullivan in Gowrie. Within a couple of years, John and Diane moved back to his grandparent’s family farm and worked with his father and brother in the family business. John became the third generation owner of Reasoner’s Garage. He steadily built the business, which in later years, became Reasoner’s Garage and Implement. He sold Farmhand, Tye, Kuhn and Zetor.

John was an elder at Wishard Chapel Community Church.

John is survived by his wife Diane of Beaconsfield; sons, Nathan (Marina) Reasoner of Ames, Jeremy (Tina) Reasoner of Bettendorf and Daniel (Sena) Reasoner of Beaverdale; granddaughters, Maliah, Claire and Scarlett Reasoner; sister Lois (John) Schultz of Indianola and brother Robert (Glenda) Reasoner of Osceola.

John was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins and great-niece Mara Webb.
