Bob Horton Osceola

Robert Harold Horton, 86, of Osceola died Saturday, March 4, 2017, in Osceola.

Services were 11 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. Al Adams officiating. Visitation with family present was from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery. Robert Harold Horton, son of Hubert Cecil Horton and Cleo Grace (Pearcy) Horton, was born Sept.16, 1930, at home near Woodburn in Clarke County. Bob received his education in the school south of Woodburn, James School near Lacelle and Osceola High School, graduating in 1948. Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country from 1948 to 1949. He then re-enlisted with the United States Air Force in 1951 serving more than 12 years and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He married Joyce Fluke and two children were born, Rick and Vicky. Following Joyce’s death, on May 24, 1959, Bob married Paula Delaine Neidt at Lincoln Air Force Base, Nebraska, and son Darren was born. Upon returning from his military service, Bob began working for his in-laws at Neidt Plumbing and Heating in Osceola. Bob and Paula soon purchased the business and operated it until their retirement.

Bob was a member of Davis-Pence Post No. 69 American Legion, Osceola Masonic Lodge No. 77 A.F. and A.M. and served on the Osceola Water Board for more than 30 years. He was a member of Clarke County Development Corporation, past president of the Osceola Eagles Lodge No. 3495 and was involved in 4-H as a youth.

Bob is survived by his children, Rick (Sharon) Horton of Treynor, Vicky Horton of Osceola and Darren Horton of Osceola; grandchildren, Autumn Horton of Council Bluffs, Justin (Kristine) Horton of Treynor, Moriah (Dylan) Bees of Carson, Alyssa (Duane) Davis of Callender, Nigel (Rachel) Horton of Treynor and Erin (Elizabeth) Horton of Omaha, Nebraska; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Timmons of Osceola and Charlotte (Wendell) Jones of Van Wert; brother-in-law Gene Fry of Osceola; other relatives and many friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joyce Fluke Horton; wife Paula; sister Wilma Fry and brother-in-law Freddie Timmons.
