Charles Henry Woods, 74, of Osceola died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola.
Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola, with the Rev. James "Pete" R. Sheesley officiating. Visitation with family present was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, at the funeral home. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola. Charles Henry Woods, son of Charles Harlan Woods and Edith Maxine (Baker) Woods, was born May 5, 1942, in Clarke County. Charlie received his education in Osceola, graduating from Osceola High School in 1960.
On June 25, 1961, he married Peggy. Over the years, Charlie owned Woods Feed Store and was a hog buyer in and around Clarke County. He also spent time as a timber buyer, and his last venture was owning and operating the Woodburn Bar and Grill.
Charlie served his community as a former member of Clarke County Fair Board and as a former 4-H leader.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Julie (Mike) Demaray of Osceola, Jodie Woods of Oakland, Nebraska, Jacque Valdez of Murray and Jeanne (David) Klein of Osceola; son Chuck (Jenny) Woods of Walker; grandchildren, Lindsay (Dustin) Rook of Hudson, Chad (Aly Breese) Demaray of Cedar Falls, Brittany (Roy) Douse of West Des Moines, Mandy Demaray of Cedar Falls, Blake Jackson of Oakland, Nebraska, Austin (Jennifer) Valdez of Osceola, Brandon Valdez of Osceola, Breianna, Calleigh, Keirsten, Brayden and Brenden Klein of Osceola, Corbin, and Tate and Brady Woods of Walker; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Macey Rook, Aubrey Valdez and Hayden Valdez; sister Ann Burrell of Osceola; sister-in-law Patty Woods of Osceola; special friend Peggy Woods of Osceola; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ron Woods and brother-in-law Merrill Burrell.
