MALVERN — Southwest Valley’s wrestling team crowned two champions and had six more place second in winning its second tournament of the season Saturday at East Mills.
The Timberwolves picked up victories from Teagan Lundquist at 126 pounds and Merik Gaule and 170. Southwest Valley brought home second-place finishes from Trey Dixon at 106, Dylan Dalton at 145, Logan Calkins at 152, Lyndon Bright at 182, Bryson Rhamy at 195 and Bryce Newton at 220.
Southwest Valley also picked up a third from Zane Hollingsworth at 132 and a fourth from Kolton Schutt at 113.
The Timberwolves won easily with 187 points. Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto was runner-up with 137 points.
Southwest Valley added to its tournament title haul this season, having won the Griswold Dual Team Tournament a couple weeks ago.
UP NEXT — Southwest Valley travels to the Class 1A Section 13 tournament in Guthrie Center Saturday, hosted by Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center. Wrestling begins at noon. The top two in each weight class advance to the district meet on Feb. 11 in Underwood with wrestling starting at noon.

Hensley’s first leads area contingent at Quad State Classic
MARYVILLE, Mo. — Bedford/Lenox’s Jared Hensley handled the competition in rolling to the title at 120 pounds at Saturday’s Quad State Classic to lead the Bedford/Lenox wrestling team.
Hensley won his first match by pin at 120 pounds and won the final by a 9-0 major decision over Austin Coufal of Millard South (Neb.) to claim Bedford/Lenox’s lone title.
Bedford/Lenox added second-place finishes from Drew Venteicher at 138 and Sam McMillin at 152. Talon Riedel at 113, Dylan Heideman at 126 and Brenden Christensen at 182 each placed third.
Mount Ayr was led by a second-place finish from Cal Daughton at 170. Quentin Gregg at 120 and Marcus Daughton at 152 each placed third.
Bedford/Lenox was third as a team with 109.5 points, while Mount Ayr was eighth with 42.5 points. Millard South (Neb.) won with 209 points. Lathrop (Mo.) was second with 139 points.
UP NEXT — Bedford/Lenox travels to the Class 2A Section 6 Tournament hosted by Shenandoah. The top two in each weight class there advance to the District 3 Tournament on Feb. 11 in Harlan with wrestling starting at noon.
Mount Ayr is at the Class 1A Section 10 Tournament in Truro hosted by Interstate 35. The top two in each weight class there advance to the District 5 meet on Feb. 11 at Pleasantville, with wrestling starting at noon.

GUTHRIE CENTER — Sanden Cheers led the East Union wrestling contingent at Saturday’s A-C/GC Charger Invitational in Guthrie Center.
Cheers placed second at 160 pounds.
East Union added a fourth-place finish from Matthew Wittstock at 138 and Beau Boswell at 195. Kessler Tomas was fifth at 285.
Nodaway Valley had one placewinner. Jory Christensen was seventh at 195.
The Eagles placed 11th as a team with 75 points, while the Wolverines were 20th with 17 points. Clarion-Goldfield won the title with 169.5 points. Van Meter was second with 156 points.
