Evelyn Jean (Vicker) Haight, 71, of Urbandale died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Westover Funeral Home, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. till service time with reception following the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Bethel Cemetery in Diagonal. Memorials may be directed to a fund established by the family.
Evelyn Jean (Vicker) Haight, daughter of George and Ruth Vicker of rural Diagonal, was born Aug. 26, 1945. Jeannie graduated from Diagonal High School in 1964 and attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She worked at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, National Farmers Organization in Corning, Recording and Statistical in Des Moines and then 36 years for the state of Iowa in data processing for the Department of Human Services at the Hoover Building in Des Moines.
On May 19, 1968, Jeannie married Luther “Lou” John Haight. They have resided at their home in Urbandale since November 1974.
Jeannie is survived by her husband, Luther; daughter, Kelly Smith of Beaverdale; grandchildren Ashton and Breikin Smith; brother, John “Jack” Vicker of Creston and nieces Jacque (Gary) Booth of Creston, Lisa (Jim) Taylor of Diagonal and Janet DuBuc of Waukee.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Diane Vicker.
