Lauren Barker Osceola

Lauren Isabel Barker, 16, of Osceola died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016.

Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola, with the Rev. Chuck DeVos officiating. Visitation with family present was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the funeral home. Lauren Isabel Barker, daughter of Nathan Wade Barker and Amy Diane (Swanson) Barker, was born Feb. 16, 2000, in Des Moines. Lauren received her education at Clarke Community Schools and was currently a junior at Clarke Community High School.

Lauren’s life goal was to go to college and work towards degrees in criminal justice and forensic science in order to be a crime scene investigator.

Lauren is survived by her mother Amy (Lonnie Rumley) Barker of Osceola; dogs, Cupcake and Bunny; father Nathan (Jennifer) Barker of Osceola; grandparents, Gary (Francie) Swanson of Osceola, Larry (Vickie) Barker of Taylorville, Illinois, and Scott (Brenna) Mauck of Springfield, Illinois; great-grandmother Margaret Belloma of Centerville and Jean Swanson of Arkansas; great-grandfather Russ Swanson of Arkansas; aunts, Kim (Chuck Coffman) Swanson of Centerville, Jennifer (Brandon) Knapp of Centerville, Belinda (Ryan) Sweeney of Spencer, Rechelle (Geary) Phillips of Osceola and Becky Barker of Taylorville, Illinois; uncles, Sean Swanson of Osceola and Pete (Trisha) Barker of Taylorville, Illinois; cousins, Nick Knapp, Justin Knapp, Kaylee Knapp, Dylan Sweeney, Dalton Sweeney, Maddie Sweeney, Austin Phillips, Damian Swanson and Savannah Swanson; step-brother Adam Bergstrom of Carlisle; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Lauren was preceded in death by her great-grandmother Jean Swanson and great-grandfather Sam Belloma.
