Harlow Hall, 89, of Afton, formerly of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at his home in Afton.
Celebration of life services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Shannon City Community Church in Shannon City. The Rev. Lila Greene will officiate the service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery near Shannon City. Military rites will be given by Theodore J. Marten's Post No. 1797. Memorials can be directed to the family. Harlow Burton Hall, son of Dr. Harlow Isaac Hall and Cornelius “Connie” (Sackett) Hall, was born April 16, 1927, in Avon, New York. He graduated from Avon High School in 1944 and University of Michigan in 1952 with a psychology degree. Harlow served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1945.
On Sept. 2, 1948, Harlow married Virginia Mae Hall at United Methodist Church in Silver Creek, New York. They settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they raised their family. Moving to Colorado Springs in 1971, Harlow purchased the A-1 Collections Inc. business, which he operated for the next 18 years. They moved to Afton in March 2013, and Virginia died in June 2013.
Harlow was a founding member of the John Birch Society that started in the early 1950s in Indiana.
Harlow is survived by his son Bradford “Willie” (Hope) Hall of Shannon City; daughter Patty (Steve) Hammond of Collierville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Eric Hall (fiancée Amy Bloom) of Burlington, Matthew (Sarah) Hammond of Collierville, Tennessee, Michael Hammond of Denver, Colorado, Grant Hall of Shannon City and Grace Hall of Shannon City; great-granddaughter Leah (Rob) Swanson; brothers, Dr. Wendall (Wendy) Hall of Avon, New York, and Warren “Ed” (June) Hall of Merrill Inlet, South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Harlow was preceded in death by his parents and wife Virginia.
