This Saturday brings the Napa Auto Parts and Napa Jobbers 19th Annual Traditionto the fast half-mile.
As it has been for many years the Hobby Stocks, B-Mods, Modifieds and Pro-stocks are set to take to the track, but with a twist this year. This year the Adams County Speedway Kompacts have been added to the field and Central Vintage Racing Association and Mississippi Valley Vintage Race Car Association will bring history to the speedway as their members return with the classic Coupes. Six classes of racing and the Keystone Light Kompact King of the Hill will ensure for a full night of racing action at ACS.
Friends Of Ray Houck
This year, the friends of Ray Houck stepped in to have the Houck Dash For The Cash during the SLMR’s second visit to ACS and had planned to run a special event at theend of the regular season. Due to circumstances the special race was canceled and left them trying to figure out how to give back to the drivers in a different way. It was brought to the track that they would increase the purse for the night of the Tradition in honor of their friend “The Junkyard Dog” Ray Houck. The track, fans, crews and racing family would like to extend a big thank you to them and let them know it is very graciously appreciated.
Pit stops a plenty
Pit stopswill be back in both the Hobby Stock and Pro-stock classes this year. With many people unhappy with the decision to only have the half-way stop in one class this year it has been assured that we will see it back in both. At the halfway point in the A feature of both classes all cars will stop on the front stretchfor a short pit stop and then the racing will be back under way.
Coupes bring
days of old
With high expectations the two groups that keep the history alive in coupes and other classes of racing have hopes of over 20 coupes taking to the track this week. Adams County Speedway saw many coupes taking to the track in the history of this track. Many teams and family members racing today have ties back to the heritage of coupe racing. With the possibility of 20-plus coupes out on the track, rubbing tires and trading paint like back in the day is sure to make for some excitement and the half mile this Saturday.
Robert Miller
This week Tomas Avery will be at the pit shack taking donations and selling/ auctioning off some merchandise to raise funds for Robert Miller, one of the best in theb usiness. Please feel free to stop down and see Tom as to help out another member of the racing family that ACS lost this season.
New Times
Don't forget this week gates open at 2 p.m. for the pit area and 3 p.m. for the grandstands. Be sure to check out (www.acspeedway.com)or the Adams County Speedway facebook page for all prices. Sunday Sept. 25, is the scheduled rain date for this event. We look forward to seeing everyone at ACS for one more night before the season ends.
