Todd Garrett, 50, of Creston and Afton areas died at his home in Afton.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Dow City Methodist Church in Dow City. Burial will be in Dow City Cemetery. Memorials are to be established. Todd Larry Garrett, son of Carlyn Jean Brown and Larry Rudolph Garrett, was born Nov. 26, 1965, in Denison. He graduated from Dow City-Arion High School in 1984 and later received his A.A. in criminal justice and mortuary science in Kansas City.
Todd worked as Lake View Deputy Sheriff in Sac County and then went to work for AT&T Cable, both in Denison and Atlantic. He also received his CDL and drove over-the-road for Schnieder for a short time. After moving to Kansas City, he became a licensed funeral director/embalmer, working in Overland Park, Kansas. After moving to Afton, he worked for Bunn-O-Matic as an assembly worker. He also worked for Roehl Transportation as a truck driver, where he drove for a short time when he lived in Cameron, Missouri. He then drove a truck for Menards and Panama Transfer.
Todd is survived by his parents, Larry and Carlyn Garrett of Dow City; son Jacob Logan Garrett and his mother, Tami Kuehl, both of Mount Ayr and brothers, Troy (Lisa) Garrett of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Thad Garrett of Dow City.
