Area players have been chosen to the Pride of Iowa’s all-conference baseball team.
State tournament qualifier Nodaway Valley had four on the first team. Senior pitcher Jackson Lamb went 8-5 with a 2.20 earned run average in 76 and one-third innings of work. He struck out 74 and walked 22. Opponents batted only .218 against him.
Also on the first team was catcher Joe Herr. The junior batted .323 with four doubles and 15 runs batted in. He threw out 12 runners trying to steal.
Senior Sam Marnin batted .357 with three doubles, four triples and 17 runs batted in.
Junior Beau Weinheiemer was the Wolverines’ other first team selection. Nodaway Valley’s leadoff hitter batted .327 with 30 runs and 11 driven in.
Lenox had one on the first team in junior infielder Jared Hensley. Hensley batted .341 wtih four doubles, 14 runs batted in and stole 28 bases.
Mount Ayr had two on the first team. Senior Levi Jarred earned a spot on the infield. He batted .378 with four doubles and 16 driven in. Senior Jacob Taylor earned a spot as a utility player. He batted .330 with three doubles, two triples, a home run and a team-best 28 driven in. On the mound, Taylor led the Raiders with a 5-3 mark and a 3.22 earned run average. He struck out 43 in 41 and one-third innings.
Several others earned spots on the second team.
Nodaway Valley had one in junior infielder Brandon Mangles. Mangles was a unanimous choice. He hit .229 with nine driven in.
Lenox had two represented. Junior pitcher Kaleb Anderson was a unanimous choice to the second team. Anderson hit .267 with 12 driven in, scored 14 runs and had seven stolen bases. On the mound, Anderson was 4-3 with a 1.45 earned run average. He struck out 39 in 48 and one-third innings of work.
Junior catcher Dawson Tullberg earned a spot on the second team. He led the Tigers with a .367 average with four doubles and three triples with 36 runs and 29 stolen bases. Behind the dish, he had a .936 fielding percentage.
Mount Ayr had one on on the second team in senior infielder Nick Wurster. Wurster led the Raiders with a .416 batting average. he scored 33 runs and drove in 12 and was 24-of-24 stealing.
League champion Martensdale-St. Marys, who went 15-1, had three selections on the first team and two on the second team. Pleasantville, who was second and reached the Class 2A semifinal, had four on the first team and four more on the second team.
