The band recently garnered several awards from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America, including the 2016 Midwest Band of the Year. King was named Midwest Female Vocalist of the Year and their latest CD, “Grandpa’s Old Guitar,” was named 2016 Midwest Album of the Year.

The show starts at 7 pm. Tickets are on sale now at Ed & Eva's, 154 Public Square, or call 641-743-2566 or go online to www.warrenculturalcenter.com. All seats are $15 in the great acoustics of the restored opera house's Norman Lear Theater. Opening act is The Bluegrass Blondies. The show is sponsored by Long's Market and Hotel Greenfield.

Lori and Joe King are no strangers to the bluegrass stage. Both performed with the long-running group Bluegrass Addiction and began building fans and friends quickly. Their new group debuted at the Bluegrass Music Association of Iowa’s second-annual Des Moines Area Festival in 2014. Lori plays upright bass and sings lead and harmony vocals. On guitar, Joe King also sings lead and harmony. They reside in Drakesville and have been performing on stage for more than 20 years.

The Kings are joined by Kevin Amburgey of Ashland, Missouri. He recently moved from Kentucky with his wife and kids to start a church and is a stellar mandolinist, singer and multi-instrumentalist.

Mark Hargrove lives in Ames and adds banjo and harmony vocals. He is a multi-instrumentalist and brings a new traditional sound to the band.
