AMES – The Iowa State Athletics Department, in partnership with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, is counting down to the 2016 football season with the #ISU99 Cyclone Scavenger Hunt.
Starting May 27, the athletics department will hide an #ISU99 box in a different county in Iowa every day leading up to the Cyclone football home opener Sept. 3.
Each commemorative box is filled with prizes such as an authentic Iowa State football jersey (2015 season), pylon, sunglasses, pennant, drawstring bag and ISU Extension and Outreach items.
“It’s a great partnership for Iowa State Athletics and Iowa State Extension and Outreach to collaborate on the #ISU99 Cyclone Scavenger Hunt,” Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “The passion for the Cyclones is strong in every corner of this state and ISU Extension and Outreach gives us a vehicle to reach those fans because of their strong presence in all 99 counties.”
The catch? You have to be social media-savvy to receive clues on where the box will be hidden in each county. Scavenger hunt participants will find clues by following “CycloneATH” on Twitter and “Iowa State Athletics” on Facebook.
Iowa State was the first land-grant university and the first in the nation to engage citizens through extension work more than 100 years ago. ISU Extension and Outreach continues to deliver the university’s research and resources to people across the state. Every day, ISU Extension and Outreach’s 1,200 faculty and staff partner with Iowans to build a #StrongIowa.
“We take the resources and research of Iowa State University to all 99 counties to solve today’s problems and prepare for the future for a strong Iowa,” said ISU Vice President for Extension and Outreach Cathann Kress.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is a 99-county campus with 100 county offices. Pottawattamie has two. This local connection to Iowa State provides Iowans everywhere with access to education and university research. Cyclone fans can visit their county office in person or online to learn more about all of the ways ISU Extension and Outreach engages with Iowans.
Each year, more than 1 million people directly benefit from ISU Extension and Outreach educational programs and millions more connect online. Iowans also can discover more about ISU Extension and Outreach via its social media platforms. Follow @ISUExtension on Twitter and Iowa State University Extension on Facebook.
