Peggy Louise Morris was born July 31, 1951, to Florbelle Patterson and Hal Dean Morris. She grew up on a farm in Kent attending the Kent school. She graduated from Creston High School in 1969, and married Larry Sweeney in October of that same year. They had two daughters, Holly and Betsy, and lived in and around the Creston area.

Peggy was a homemaker and babysitter while she was married. Later on, as she pursued an accounting degree at SWCC, she worked various jobs in Creston to provide for her daughters. She was best known for working at Trolli Gummi Bear Factory in Creston, as she would provide her daughters, nieces and nephew with an endless supply of Gummi Bears. She retired from Trolli in December 1996, when a neurological disease took over. She continued to live at her home in Creston until moving to Westview Care Center in Britt, where she has resided for the last 11 years.

Peggy loved music and dancing. She took dance lessons as a child and in high school she was a proud member of the Peppers. Late in life when the disease took away her ability to walk, she was known to dance in her wheelchair. Her smile and positive energy were infectious. Peggy also loved sports and would cheer for her KC Chiefs and KC Royals.

Her biggest love was being a grandma. She would visit her daughters and grandchildren any chance she could. In the end, this disease took many things from her, but it could never take away her sweet, loving spirit or her beautiful smile. She was the epitome of strength and perseverance. She will live and dance in our hearts forever.

Left to cherish Peggy’s memory are her two daughters, Holly (Aaron) Cottrell of Johnston and Betsy (Andrew) Hunt of Britt; her five grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, and Macie Cottrell of Johnston and Nicholas and Tristan Hunt of Britt; her sister Susan Loudon of Ankeny; her brother Monty Morris of Lenox; sister-in-law Carmen Morris of Ankeny; her former husband Larry Sweeney of Creston; numerous nieces and nephews; and the staff and residents of Westview Care Center in Britt.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Hal Dean and Florbelle “Pat” Morris; her brother Paul Morris; brother-in-law Jim Loudon and her nephew Thaddaeus Loudon.
