Preparations for the Creston High School junior-senior banquet, prom and the all-night Crestubilee that followed were near completion for the weekend. The banquet and prom were to be in the gymnasium starting at 6 p.m. About 11 p.m., the students were to be guests of the community-sponsored Crestubilee that would start at the Strand Theater. Bleachers were erected in front for spectators while students were greeted, interviewed and photographed. After a movie, the junior and seniors went home to change before heading to the Elks Lodge around 2:30 a.m. for a night of food, dancing, games, carnival and floor show. About 6:30 a.m., they would head to the Eagles Lodge for breakfast, souvenirs and prizes. This was the 14th-annual Crestubilee with the first all-night party held in 1953. Funds could be sent to Mrs. Clair Boyd, as it took $1,400 to host the party for the 315 students.
