Carol Poore, 64, of Creston died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.
Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Chuck Spindler will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at Quincy, north of Corning. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at the funeral home. Memorials are to the family. Carol Ann Poore, daughter of Chester Dean Ross and Wanda Radene (Wilkie), was born April 6, 1951, in Creston. She graduated from Creston High School.
Carol married Gary Saville in Corning and moved to Big Springs, Texas, where he was stationed. They later divorced.
In 1986, she married Houston James Poore in Creston.
Carol worked for Easy Heat Wirecraft and Lazy Ike in Corning. She then attended Southwestern Community College, where she received her associates of arts degree before attending the SWCC nursing program, where she received her licensed practical nurse license. She did nursing in Afton, Winterset and Des Moines areas for 33 years before retiring in 2015.
Carol is survived by her son Austin Poore (significant other Shannon Deaton) of Osceola; grandchildren, Kohen and Konlin Poore; sister Deb Ross of Johnston; brother Rick (Loraine) Ross of Des Moines; sister-in-law Victoria Ross of Johnston and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Mitzi Wanda in infancy, sister Karen Ross and brother Gary Ross.
