Hair Tech School

of Cosmetology

Brittney Buchanan, student at Hair Tech School of Cosmetology in Creston, placed fourth out of 31 contestants in the Iowa Cosmetology Educators student competition “Diamond Fantasy Wedding.” It was held Feb. 21 at the Meadow Event and Conference Center at Prairie Meadows in Altoona.

Buchanan had to produce a total look of hair, make-up and nails in 60 minutes.

Jenny Hartman, Hair Tech graduate in nail technology, was the model.

Others attending were Mary Lee Foltz, Glen Tull and Jim Sissel, all of Creston, and Cathy Ward of Mount Ayr.

Luther College

DECORAH – Scot Schaeffer, Luther College vice president for enrollment management, has announced that Angela Sorensen of Creston has been accepted for admission for the 2016-17 academic year. Sorensen has been awarded the Luther College Founders Scholarship.

Luther is a selective four-year college located in northeast Iowa. The college has an enrollment of 2,400 students and offers a liberal arts education leading to the bachelor of arts degree in 60 majors and pre-professional programs.
