John Oliphant

John Oliphant, 50, of Stella, Missouri, passed away in his home on Feb. 3, 2016, with his loving wife, family and friends caring for him.

John was born Jan. 27, 1966, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, the son of Paul and Joyce (Shallenberger) Oliphant. John resided in Stella for more than 19 years. He loved the outdoors and was Scout leader of Pack 98 for 13 years. John was a member of Stella United Methodist Church. He married the love of his life, Julie Latimer, on Dec. 12, 2015, after a 25-year courtship.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joy and Gladys Shallenberger and Lela and John Oliphant and his father-in-law Ronald Latimer.

John is survived by his wife Julie; his parents Paul and Joyce Oliphant; mother-in-law Catherine Latimer; brother and sister-in-law JR and Jessica; sister Holly; sister and brother-in-law Lisa and John Abell; brother and sister-in-law Curtis and Brittany Latimer; nieces and nephews, Kristen, Cody, Logan, Marrissa, Wesley, Elizabeth, Dixie, Devin, Emma and Elly; as well as many other family members, friends and beloved scouts.
