LENOX – Lenox Monument Service has new owners with family and community ties. After more than three decades of serving Lenox and the surrounding area, C.B. Adams has sold Lenox Monument Service to Cody and Brook Adams. Cody is the son of Jo and C.B. Adams.
“I’ve been setting headstones for Dad for years, ever since he started,” Cody said. “The main reason we bought the business is that he is at retirement age. A few years back, he asked us if this would be something we would be interested in. I have always helped him while also keeping up in the plumbing business. It was a natural transition.”
Brook has been a surgical nurse in Creston for nine years. The couple lives in Lenox, so Brook said it will be easier to work in Lenox, handling the business along with family responsibilities.
“C.B. is going to stay and help me,” Brook said. “He has been doing it for probably 30 years. He works with Coldspring, a company in St. Cloud, Minnesota. They are one of the largest natural stone manufacturers serving with memorials and monuments. Their design expertise coupled with ours will allow us to beautifully celebrate life for our clients.”
At Lenox Monument, clients will be able to see a stone before buying it using a computer mock-up of the stone. A client will be able to see details, lettering and pictures if he or she wants pictures.
“You can have real life pictures of your farm or of people,” Brook said. “We’ll be able to do all of that on the computer screen in front of the client. That will help our clients visualize what they are purchasing. C.B. has many resources. He keeps pictures of stones he has done in the past. So, that can help clients too.”
Lenox Monument won’t have regular office hours, but Cody or Brook acn be reached by phone anytime. If you are coming from out of town, be sure to call ahead.
“We love Lenox and think it’s important to keep the businesses going (here),” Brook said. “We really wanted to continue Lenox Monument.”
Brook graduated from Creston High School before receiving her degree in American studies from the University of Iowa. She then attended Southwestern Community College, receiving her licensed practical nurse degreel, and attended Des Moines Area Community College to become a registered nurse.
Cody graduated from Lenox High School before receiving his secondary education degree from Northwest Missouri State University. Cody taught high school in Woodbine before owning and operating Adams Plumbing.
Brook and Cody have three boys, Samson, Patton and Winston, and a baby girl is due to arrive in February.
