Rylie Driskell and Kelsey Fields each serve four aces and Fields hit five kills as Creston Team One defeated Nodaway Valley 22-20, 21-9, 15-9 in seventh-grade volleyball Thursday in the season finale.
“Nice finish to the season. The girls finally finished off the three sets,” said Creston coach Teri Keeler. “The first set the girls fought from an early deficit and battled to win. I’m very proud of the way they held their composure and won.”
Creston had several more players available for the following sets, playing mostly against the original Nodaway Valley group. The Wolverines beat Creston Team Two 21-13, 21-14, 15-6.
“Nodaway Valley only brought part of their squad due to a scheduling deal so they played their first team throughout the night,” Keeler said. “The girls fought and played well. It was a case of the simple or ‘given’ plays didn’t go our way.”
Nodaway Valley beat Creston Team Three 15-10, 15-9, 15-5.
“Again, these girls faced Nodaway Valley’s first team and fought hard, just too many missed serves,” Keeler said.
Nodaway Valley then beat Creston Team Four 15-10, 15-10, 15-8.
“The girls hung in there against Nodaway Valley’s first team,” Keeler said. “It was a great season for these girls all-around. I look forward to watching them in the future years.”
