Rep. David Young visited Creston Wednesday to formally open the southwest Iowa’s Creston Constituent Service Office, located at 208 W. Taylor St . in Creston.
The office was used by former Rep. Tom Latham until January, when Young became Iowa’s third district congressman.
“We didn’t change real estate. We kept the same location,” Young said. “It was a good location, and folks were familiar with where this congressional office was so it worked out well.”
The office opened in February, but Young said he wanted to invite local constituents to visit and learn more about what services are offered.
“It’s primarily used for folks who have issues with the federal government, and they need someone to advocate for them,” Young said. “Your member of Congress should be that person.”
Rep. Jack Drake and Sen. Tom Shipley were also present at the formal opening, and spoke with the congressman and other visitors in the office.
Young has currently maintained visiting every county in his district once a month, and plans to continue with the campaign.
“I hope that people realize that we’re available to advocate for them in their community,” Young said.
