Lana M. Fort Red Oak

Lana Marie Fort, the daughter of Kenneth and Oletta (Wilson) Hansen was born May 9, 1949 at Creston, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Red Oak Healthcare Community, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 21 days.

Lana graduated from Creston High School in 1967. She moved to Red Oak in 1975 and started to work for Union Carbide Battery Company for 18 years. Lana was united in marriage to Mike Fort on January 1, 1982 in Red Oak, Iowa. After Eveready’s closure, Lana attended cosmetology school and then worked side by side as a hairdresser with her sister Debbie, for 5 years. She then went to work for Eveready in Maryville, MO for nine years where she retired from Eveready after a total of 27 years of service. She was an avid garage saler, thrift store, and over all shopper. The term “shop till you drop” was Lana. Family was an important part of her life, spending time with her grandchildren, sisters, trick or treating with her kids and the family get togethers for the holidays.

Lana was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Hansen, brothers: Denny Hansen and Richard “Dougie” Hansen; a grandson, Michael Lee Morgan.

Lana is survived by three children: Carrie Morgan and husband Jerrod of Riley, KS; Clint England of Corning, IA; Kirk England of Red Oak, IA; 6 grandchildren; mother, Oletta Hethcote of Red Oak, IA; brother, Dan Hansen of Creston, IA; sisters: Pat Shatava of Clarinda, IA; Cindy Rea and husband Larry of Red Oak, IA; Debbie Anderson and husband Mark of Mountain Home, AR; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM, Faith Community Church, Red Oak, Iowa.

A Memorial is being established in Lana’s name.
