Connie Lyles, 70, of Corning died Nov. 11, 2014, at her home.

Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Corning United Methodist Church. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Ritchie Funeral Home, Bedford, is in charge of arrangements. Connie Louisa (Gissible) Lyles, daughter of June (Zimmerli) and Vernon Gissible, was born April 15, 1944, on a farm in Orient.

She grew up attending school in Orient and graduated from Orient-Macksburg High School in 1962.

On June 24, 1962, Connie married Chuck Lyles.

Connie began her married life in Cook, Neb.

The couple moved to Massena, where they purchased C & C Locker.

In 1971, the family moved to Corning, where they worked at Corning Meat Processing Plant.

In 1981, Chuck and Connie purchased the meat processing plant where they worked side by side until 2000, when they sold their business.

Connie was a member of Corning United Methodist Church, where she had served as church secretary, was a member of Mary Martha Circle and UMW and was active in the quilting group. She served funeral lunches and taught Sunday school and Bible school. Connie also volunteered at various other organizations throughout the Corning community.

Connie is survived by her husband Chuck Lyles; daughters, Cindy (husband Mike) Peckham of Ankeny, Carrie (husband Dave) Beranek of Pine Bluff, Ark., Charity Johnson of Johnston and Carla (husband Brian) Damewood of Corning; granddaughters, Marissa, Allison (husband Matt), Ashton (husband Matt) and McKayla, Taylor, Maysie, Madysan and Tonna; great-grandchildren, Adysenn, Tate and Aubree; sisters, Marlyn (husband Dana) Rectenbaugh, Beverly (husband Carroll) Brewer and Phyllis (husband Harvey) Dillenburg; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins and a community of friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her infant daughter Cherry, parents, grandparents and brother Bill Gissible.
