Valley girls recognize award winners

STUART — The Valley girls soccer team (Nodaway Valley/West Central Valley/Adair-Casey) celebrated yet another successful season at its postseason awards banquet on June 20 at West Central Valley High School.

The Valley girls won double digits games for the ninth year in a row, going 12-7 for the season. They also finished second at the Valley Tournament.

The Valley girls outscored their opponents this year by a 67-25 margin, led by Hailey Gross, who netted 24 goals and had five assists. Madi Foster added nine goals with three assists, while Josi Ocheltree had seven goals and five assists. Alicia Urquhart scored six goals.

Gross was named to the Class 2A all-state team as honorable mention and won the team award for Best Offensive Player, as voted by her teammates and coaches.

Rachel Urquhart won the Most Improved Player Award, while Christina Boss took the team’s Most Valuable Player Award. Emmy Godfroy won Best Defensive Player and Alicia Urquhart won the Coaches Award.
