Bill Loudon

William “Bill” Loudon, 86, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Creston, died Feb. 12, 2014, of COPD at Desert Springs Senior Living Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

Services were 11:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev. He was cremated and will be interred with full military honors. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas Nev., was in charge of arrangements.

William “Bill” Francis Loudon, son of Teresa (Leuck) and Paul Loudon, was born Jan. 6,1928, in Creston.

Bill attended St. Malachy grade school and graduated from Creston High School in 1945.

Bill served in the United States Navy from 1945-46.

After the Navy, Bill worked at Coca Cola Bottling in Creston.

On Aug. 2, 1947, Bill married Carolyn Brandon at St. Malachy Catholic Church. They lived in Creston until 1948, when they moved to Des Moines, and he went to work for Firestone Tire and Rubber.

In 1956, they moved to Denver, Colo., with his in-laws and together they owned and operated Mary Ann’s Cafe. After selling the restaurant, he became a meat cutter until retirement.

In 1984, they moved to Las Vegas, Nev., and he resided there until his death.

Bill is survived by his daughter Janet (husband Tim) Engle of Las Vegas, Nev.; granddaughter Shannon (husband Carl) Carlson; great-grandsons, Brandon (wife Camille) Carbon and Justin and Austin Carlson; great-great-granddaughters, Alorah, Alyssah and Carlee Carlson; and great-great-grandsons, Hiero and Everett Carlson, all of San Bernardino, Calif.; brother Jim Loudon of Madrid; sisters, Joan Bickett and Sharon (husband Ron) Hower of Creston; numerous nieces and nephews in Iowa and Kansas and many friends in Nevada and Colorado.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, parents; in-laws, Ruth and Ed Scrowther; brothers, John “Jack” Loudon, Paul (wife Mary) Loudon and Tom (wife Barbara) Loudon; sister Teresa Jo (husband Carl) Jessen; brother-in-law George Bickett; nephews, Jim “Jungle” Loudon, Gregory Hower, Bill Loudon and Thaddeus Loudon and niece Lori Hower.
