Billy Mongar, 80, of Osceola died Feb. 19, 2014, at Southern Hills Specialty Care.
Services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiated. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery with military rites presented by American Legion Davis-Pence Post No. 69 of Osceola. Billy Lorraine Mongar, son of Eva (Leeps) and Elias Mongar, was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Osceola.
He received his education at Osceola schools and graduated from Osceola High School in 1952.
Billy served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, serving most of that time in Germany. Other than his years in the Army, he has been a lifetime resident of Osceola.
On July 19, 1959, Billy married Letitia Utley at the First Christian Church in Osceola.
Before joining the Army, Billy helped his father in his cement and masonry business. After the Army, he was a gas station attendant for five years, a milkman for five years and owned and operated a gas station for four years. His last job was with a heavy moving and rigging company from which he retired on disability in 1988.
Billy was a member of the First Christian Church in Osceola.
Billy is survived by his wife Letitia "Tish" of Osceola; children, Michael (Stacy) Mongar of Sioux Falls, S.D., Teresa Mongar of Venice, Fla., and Larry (Lori) Mongar of Osceola; grandchildren, Courtney, Jessica and Jacob Mongar of Sioux Falls, S.D., Trevor Mongar of Venice, Fla., and Kayci Mongar and Chelsi (Zach) Lamb, all of Osceola; sister Karalee (Norman) Cook of Osceola; sisters-in-law, Loretta (Cliff) Reeves of Murray, Margo Utley of Des Moines and Doris Townsend of Osceola; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, daughter Tammy, brother Robert, sister Roberta in infancy and brother-in-law Kenneth Ronald "Ron" Utley.
