Gail Hembry, 72, of Osceola died Dec. 16, 2013.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Sheldon Lorenson officiated. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Gail Dean Hembry, son of Hazel C. (Poole) and Leonard Virgil Hembry, was born March 11, 1941, in Wayne County.
Gail received his education in Leon and graduated from Leon High School.
After graduation, Gail served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
On July 25, 1984, Gail married Dana Ann Winter in Indianola.
Gail worked as a superintendent for Donaldson Pipeline in Minnesota.
Gail was a member of Southern Iowa Draft Horse Association, Davis-Pence American Legion Post No. 69 in Osceola, Veterans of Foreign War, Clarke County Sheriff’s Posse, Osceola Saddle Club and Faith Fellowship Evangelical Free Church.
Gail is survived by his wife Dana Hembry of Osceola; daughters, Kelly (Steve) Stelter of Maryville, Mo., and Darbi (Chris) DeVore of Osceola; grandchildren, Alex Christian Stelter, Madison Claire Stelter and Devin Christopher DeVore; sisters, Elouise Bethards of Des Moines, Imogene Beardsley of Mountain Home, Ark., Lucille Baughman of Osceola, Betty Lou Halsted of Runnells and Kay (Jim) Fenn of Nevada; brothers, Doyle (Lola) Hembry of Creston and Fred Hembry and Gary Hembry, both of Osceola; brother-in-law Wiley Gray of Altoona, mother-in-law Jeanne Winter of Osceola, sister-in-law Mary (Dave) Larsen of Burlington, Wis., many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Gail was preceded in death by his parents, sister in infancy Martha May Hembry, sister Lois Gray, father-in-law Kenny Winter; nephews, Duane Hembry, Dave Tuttle, Bob Jacobs and Lonnie Baughman; and brothers-in-law, Harry Bethards, Tom Beardsley, Bill Baughman and Bill Halsted.
