Roland “Ron” Reinke, 86, of Creston died Oct. 27, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Celebration of life services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St. The Rev. Tim Maxa of Lenox United Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery with military honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post No. 1797. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday with family present 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Roland Earl “Ron” Reinke, son of Hannah Louise (Bond) and William Albert Reinke, was born July 16, 1927, in Geneva.
Ron graduated from Geneva High School.
On Oct. 30, 1951, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force and served stateside in California during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged Nov. 21, 1953, at Travis Air Force Base in California.
Ron returned to live on the family farm near Ackley, where he resided most of his adult life. Ron farmed for several years and later sold and serviced farm equipment. He lived in Hampton for five years and moved to Creston in 1996.
On March 12, 1991, Ron married Garland LaVaun Templeton in Las Vegas, Nev.
Ron was a member of Lenox United Presbyterian Church and Elks Lodge of Creston.
Ron is survived by his wife LaVaun Reinke of Creston; children, Rhonda Reinke of Kansas City, Mo., Deb (Mike) King of Ackley, Marla (Patrick) Reinert of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Norvan) Brown of Lenox, Terry (Kathy) Fulton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Cindy Hoadley and Suzie (Douglas) Morgan, all of Greenfield; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Arlene Reinke of Albia and Marilyn (Byron) Brown of Prescott; brother-in-law Gary (Diane) Templeton of Saint Cloud, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry Reinke.
