Donald Dean Miller, 84, of Lenox died Oct. 26, 2013 at Lenox Care Center.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lenox United Methodist Church. Pastor Shurmaine McAlpine will officiate. Interment is at West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Open visitation with family receiving friends is 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lenox United Methodist Church. There will be Masonic Services by Instruction Lodge #275 of Corning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church.

Donald Dean Miller, son of Edith Marie (Nixon) and Raymond Delbert Miller, was born Jan. 24, 1929, on the family farm in Kent. Donald graduated from Lenox High School in 1946.
On Feb. 24, 1950, Donald married Jean M. Miller in Afton. They lived in Afton until 1961. The family moved to Lenox and later moved north of Lenox.
Jean died in 2000. Donald then returned to Lenox. He also lived in Durant, near his son Dan, for six years and has lived at Lenox Care Center since 2011.
Don managed and operated Lyle G. Miller Trucking and hauled grain and livestock until 1967. Don then worked building custom fences and started digging graves in 1969.
Don drove a school bus for Lenox for 30 years, did custom hay baling and owned Belgian Draft Horses with his brother Gail. Don also owned quarter horses and was a member of the Sheriff’s Posse Mounted Patrol Drill Team and Lenox Stock and Saddle Club.
He worked for the city of Lenox as street commissioner for several years and worked part-time for Pearson Family Funeral Service in Lenox for several years.
Don was a member of Tremont Masonic Lodge in Lenox for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Salome Chapter #264 Order of Eastern Star and member of the Lenox United Methodist Church.
Donald is survived by David Miller of Claremore, Okla., Jolene (husband Randy) Garey of Manson and Daniel (wife Sandy) Miller of Walcott; his daughter-in-law, Jackie Miller of Knoxville; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Allen Miller of Lenox and Harlan (Joy) Miller of Lenox; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Dailey of Des Moines and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Randy Miller; three brothers, Dick, Gail and Edwin Miller; his great-grandson, Ryder Garey; and his daughter-in-law, Cindy Miller.
