Rick Bowers, 63, of Murray died Aug. 19, 2013, at his home.
A eulogy and remembrance service was held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. Burial of cremains will be in Vandalia Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to Rick's family. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.
Hal Richard “Rick “Bowers, son of Betty Geanne (Dennis) and Norman Lee Bowers, was born Dec. 22, 1949, in Des Moines.
Rick grew up in the Runnells area and attended Southeast Polk High School.
Rick was an auto mechanic by trade.
On Feb. 21, 1980, Rick married Mary Allard, and they moved to Murray in 1983.
Rick is survived by his wife Mary Bowers of Murray; daughters, Kelly Burtz of Hannibal, Mo., and Tina Bowers (John Hansen) and Charety Kneedler, all of Murray; two sons; sisters, Debbie (Austin) Brown of Des Moines and Sherri Fales of Runnells; grandchildren including Jimmy Burtz of Hannibal, Mo., Haley Rae Hodges, Stacey Bowers, Matthew Barnes and Briar Bowers, all of Murray, Djai Smith of Weldon and Brianna Pace of Osceola; one great-grandchild; three adopted daughters, Leah (Andy) Smith and Missy (Bob) Sergeant, all of Osceola, and Debbie (Kendall) Garner of Montana; many other adopted daughters and sons, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother Millie Mae (Wagner) Bowers and grandfather William Henry Bowers.
