David H. Foster, 68, of Greenwood, Ind., died March 24, 2013, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Graveside memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Maple Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow at American Legion Hall in Osceola. Cremation Center of Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
David H. Foster, son of Marilyn J. (Lewis) and Daniel H. Foster of Osceola, was born Jan. 14, 1945, in Osceola.
David was educated in Greenfield, Des Moines and Indianola and graduated from
Indianola High School in 1963. He attended Iowa State University, Grandview College and Simpson College and worked for Pittsburg Des Moines Steel as a draftsman before entering the United States Air Force for a four-year tour. David was a medical corpsman and laboratory technician.
After leaving the service, David worked at the Des Moines VA Hospital and after a short time, he transferred to the Indianapolis VA Hospital. He later went to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where he became manager of the pathology laboratory. David was also involved in the programming and maintenance of Wishards’s computer systems. He retired in 2011.
David is survived by his parents; daughter Andrea; grandsons, Nathan and Christopher of Noblesville, Ind.; son Richard (Rachel) of San Francisco, Calif.; sister Mary (Mike) Dodson and nephew Sean Dodson of Osceola; uncles and aunts, Paul (Dorothy) Foster of Indianola, Virginia (Bob) Cantrell of Billings, Mont., Alice June Fleming and Norma Lewis of Osceola and Lanny Weaklend of Omaha, Neb.; and many cousins and friends.
David was preceded in death by his Foster and Lewis grandparents; aunt Kathie
Weaklend and uncles, Dr. George Lewis and Wayne Fleming.
