Roberta Silverthorn, 66, of Macksburg died Oct. 23, 2012, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Macksburg United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Safford will officiate. Her body has been cremated with the cremains to be interred in Moon Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home, 505 E. Roberta Silverthorn, daughter of Nola (Killion) and Clair Rogers, was born Oct. 6, 1946, in Des Moines.
She grew up in the Orient-Macksburg area, graduated from Orient-Macksburg High School and attended one year of Bible college in Omaha, Neb.
On July 16, 1966, Roberta married Fred Silverthorn at Grace Baptist Church in Winterset.
Roberta spent most of her life in the Adair and Madison county area and owned Home Town Decorating in Winterset for 23 years.
Roberta was a member of Fellowship Church in Madison County and Friendly Neighbor Club. She and her family went to churches, events and Madison County Bridge Festivals to sing gospel music. She taught Sunday school classes and was a pianist for church.
Roberta is survived by her husband Fred Silverthorn of Macksburg; children, Bobi Jo (Don) Friesen of Norwalk, Melissa Deann (Doug) Easton of Tuscola, Ill., and Tabitha Faye (Steven) Garner of West Des Moines; and grandchildren, Nate and Nick Friesen and Brianna Wait.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alvin Dale Rogers and David Rogers; and sister Melinda Rogers.
