Florence “Flossie” Zimmerline, 83, of Greenfield died Sept. 22, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Greenfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Layton will officiate. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home, 101 S.E. Fourth St., Greenfield. Florence Laurene Murray Zimmerline, daughter of Martin C. and Florence Emma Eddy Gabrielson, was born July 1, 1929, in Ellsworth in Hamilton County.
Florence attended rural country school in Hamilton County and graduated from high school in Webster City in 1947.
On Jan. 25, 1948, Florence married John C. Murray of Essex at the Lutheran Church in Stratford.
Florence and John lived in Red Oak, Iowa Falls and Washington before coming to Greenfield in 1955 to become employed by Bickford Funeral Home – later to become the Murray Funeral Home. They also were owners of Ewing Funeral Home in Fontanelle.
After retirement, they spent some time in Omaha, Neb., with their daughter and in Austin, Texas, with their son.
John died Dec. 4, 1989.
Florence assisted her husband in the funeral business. She also worked as a fashion consultant for Peck and Peck Ladies Apparel in Omaha and Austin; Bridal Boutique in Des Moines; Mi Ladys Fashions and Country Hearts Gift Shop in Creston.
On June 4, 1994, Florence married Floyd J. Zimmerline.
Floyd died Dec. 7, 1999.
Florence became a member of the Greenfield United Methodist Church on March 25, 1956. Florence was a circle leader for several years and active in UMW, and she served on the worship, council and memorial church committees. She also participated in Progress Club, Mother’s Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary, Bridge Club and Greenfield Country Club.
Florence is survived by her daughter Tamara (husband Robert) McCann of Omaha, Neb.; son Bradley (wife Stasha) Murray of LaGuna Niguel, Calif.; stepson Ronny Zimmerline of Creston; grandson Hudson John Gabriel Murray; brother Gerald (wife Arlene) Gabrielson of Ellenton, Fla.; sisters, Gaynell Clark of Story City and Dorothy (husband Donald) Anderson of Starbuck, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Jaret (wife Margaret) Murray of Council Bluffs and Harold Vest of Franklin, Vt.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gabrielson of Mesa, Ariz., and Fran Murray of Charlotte, N.C.; cousins, nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husbands, Florence was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law Florence Murray; brothers, Glenn, Donald and John Gabrielson; brothers-in-law, George Clark, Fred Murray, Pat Ham and Vernon Bakerink; sisters-in-law, Corrinne and Arlie Gabrielson, Peggy Murray, Phyllis Ham; Gloria Vest and Eva Bakerink.
